Laughter....the Best Medicne?

I just returned from lunch at a great local café.  It’s a wonderful little place…homey, good food and a very friendly wait staff! 

I like going there sometimes with my Kindle to read, get away from the office and phones and just relax while I eat my lunch.  Raegan, my adorable, fun server keeps my tea glass full and makes sure I’m not wanting for anything.  She's the best!!

It’s nice.

 

Until today.  In the booth next to me sat a young man and woman.  Both I’m sure are very nice.  However, it seems the young woman’s mother never taught her the difference between her outside voice and her inside voice.  This gal only had an outside voice.  Not only in her speaking, but in her very loud, raucous laughter….that NEVER STOPPED the WHOLE TIME I WAS THERE!! 

Most of the time I can get through a couple of chapters in my book during my lunch hour, but today, I’m not sure I got through more than a handful of pages (and I might have to re-read those)!

I don’t know if this woman was trying to impress the man she was with and was just being very giggly and nervous or if she is one of those that just have the need to draw attention to herself.   

People!  There are better ways to get attention….and the good kind of attention!  She could have worn a T-Shirt from Exceptional Specialty Products that said, “I’m Laughing – On the Inside”.  Or worn a hat that we had embroidered “Laughter – the Best Medicine” on the front of it.  She could have passed out some of those squishy toys that are shaped like a clown….we could have helped her in so many ways!

Marathon Man!

SPECIAL ALERT!!!

 

A good…no…a GREAT friend of Exceptional Specialty Products, Mr. Brian Gillette, recently announced that he will be running in a MARATHON!!  Yes, I said ‘marathon’.  That’s 26 miles people!!

 

While I question his sanity, his reason…his purpose, is a very good and noble one.  He is doing as part of ‘TNT’ Team in Training to raise money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.  They will be running in the Phoenix Marathon this January.  Brian will be running in honor of his mother who has been diagnosed with blood cancer.

 

As part of his fund-raising efforts, tomorrow night, Tuesday September 21^st from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Brian and his team will be serving as hosts at the HuHot Grill on University in West Des Moines to earn 10% of the gross receipts. 

 

You know you gotta eat, so why not plan to eat at HuHot Grill?!  Put it on your calendar right now!  Call your friends, family and Tweet and Facebook about it!  Support the cause – and remember to tip your wait person generously!

Aye!  Sunday September 19^th is “International Talk Like a Pirate Day”!!  Send ye bar wench on her merry way to grab ye some victuals and a round of grog as you celebrate ye olde ‘holiday’! 

 

And why do we celebrate talking like a pirate?  What’s the point?  Uh…I don’t think there is one, but hey…it’s a reason to use words like ‘ahoy’, ‘avast’ and our all time favorite, ‘ARRRR’!

 

On this day, scurvy bilge rats and land lubbers alike get to put on their best skivvies, grab their hornpipes and some extra booty for a raucous melee with their mateys that’s guaranteed to shiver ye timbers!

 

And don’t forget the Treasure!!  All pirates are required to have at least one chest full of treasure!   

(Yes, it’s a rule…I looked it up)
